Michael has worked in a variety of secondary schools in the north-west and east of England and brings to the Trust an extensive experience of senior school leadership in which he has gained a reputation for bringing about rapid school improvement, significant increases in academic outcomes and dramatic improvements in behaviour and attendance. He has given lectures on improving behaviour to a variety of audiences including serving headteachers and post graduate trainees.
Having originally studied Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Central Lancashire, Michael has also studied French Political Science at the University of Bordeaux in France. He appreciates the impact that an outstanding teacher can have on the life chances of a student and puts his success down to the quality of education he received as a child or has he puts it, “I attended a normal comprehensive school and it was great teaching that incited my passion for learning”.
Michael was seconded to work within the Bright Tribe Trust as the Principal of Alde Valley Academy in Leiston in 2015 which saw extensive improvements under his leadership. He is driven to see that all young people, from ‘early years’ to sixth form’ receive the very best education.
