Linda Bamford

Director of Secondary Education, BEd (Hons), MBA in Educational Management

Linda, Director of Secondary Education, Bright Tribe and ALAT Trusts, works with Regional Executive Principals and Academies within the Trusts to drive forward school improvement. Linda has specific responsibility for ensuring Academies within the Trust are supported to achieve through Continual Professional Development and school- to-school support networks. She also leads on Pupil Premium and Performance Management across the Trust.

A former Head Teacher with over 18 years in leadership roles, she has a successful track record driving up standards in schools.

Whilst in her second headship post, she was asked to join fellow outstanding heads to drive forward The London Challenge, a school improvement programme designed to create a “step change” in the performance of London secondary schools

In 2008 she was appointed by the National College of School Leadership (NCSL) to set up and deliver the Black Country City Challenge, a programme designed to improve educational outcomes for young people and ‘to crack the associated cycle of disadvantage and underachievement’. She was also responsible for developing the school-to-school support programmes for the National Leaders of Education (NLE), Local Leaders of Education (LLE) and Teaching School national initiatives. She subsequently became the Lead Associate for the Eastern Region for NCSL.

On leaving NCSL, Linda worked as an executive coach and trainer in all aspects of leadership development, delivering training at a local, national and international level. Linda is trained to deliver the Covey Speed of Trust programme, designed to help organisations better manage change and create high-performing teams that are agile, collaborative, innovative, and engaged. She has also facilitated seminars and workshops for local authorities, as well as schools, as they search for excellence within a multi-dimensional accountability framework.

Linda believes that every child, particularly those in challenging circumstances, has the right to a high quality education – one that enables them to realise their true potential. She believes that leadership is the most powerful competence to unlock this potential and enhance the lives of all who learn and work within their communities.
